Default DRL and rear-view mirror compass problem

Hi, my 2005 Canadian A4's DRL and rear-view mirror compass stopped working after having my battery changed at a garage. All of my lights work when I turn the light switch dial around through the various settings but the DRL's do not work when the light switch is turned to the AUTO position. Same goes for the coming home/leaving home function.

The compass has not worked since the battery was changed.

I took my car to my local dealer and he tried to sell me a new set of head lights. I told him that did make sense since the headlights worked! They just stayed on all the time and the DRL lights didn't turn on.

I have searched all the threads and haven't found an exact match to my problem. I hope you guys can help. Thanks

So the compass has been off ever since ... Do DRLs ever come on after ...? In any mode?
There should be a ayto check if you're getting the right voltage to the compass... As for drls, I'd start at the lights with a multimeter, check for proper voltage at the lights and work backwards from there... Electric issues just take a method and some time.. Batt is one end, drls are te other, smh is up inbetween the two and it's nothing but wires switches relays and maybe ballasts... Tedious but probably unavoidable... Not sure if you can get one but a wiring diagram will help a ton...

I would check the fuse first. Second the compas has to be re-calibrated if the fuse went. I can send you the wiring diagram or if anyone has it handy please post, as it will probably take me a few days to post

The DRLs work when you turn the light switch all the way around to the fog light position and all the lights are illuminated. I will get a multimeter and check everything this weekend. Thanks for the tip.

1move, I have Audi's repair manual on CD so I should have the wiring diagram. I will also check the fuse this weekend and let you know what I find. Thanks

try getting someone to pull the codes and see if anything comes up, maybe it just needs to be reprogrammed, or the relay is shot.
