True, on anything prior to 2005.5 my friend! The DRL switches were implemented then and now require rewiring.

Good to know, but he is dealing with an 04 which doesn't have that issue, although I think he is being told that by a dealer.

this is certainly not true, there is no rewiring needed. All drl are simply just set with regional coding through vag-com.

when set to canada regional coding it will actiavate DRLs. If you are on USA you will not have DRL.

the way they function also differs from each model car.

BTW - An official Ross-Tech cable and full license for VCDS costs CDN$355. Buy that and you'll fix your DRL issues for less than the dealer is quoting and have a tool to perform any future diagnostics.

I bought mine from one of the Canadian distributors and have used it to identify issues that I have then had the dealer repair under warranty as I was able to prove there was a diagnostic code occurring; there were no indicator/warning lights showing on the cluster.

Well worth the dollars in my opinion.

Ummmm.... How about NO!

You dont know what you are saying. The reprogramming of a US imported vehicle will not override the DRL switches position!!! If you program it to Canada and DRL switch is at the 0 position guess what? DRL's do not work.... Please dont guide people in the wrong direction... Rewiring of the switch is required if the Vehicle has a DRL switch + reprogramming!!!

Not sure what you are arguing about here anymore as this is a B6 thread and you are talking about an early B7, are you not? The guy has just bought a 2004, not a 2005.5!! I have gone into the B7 post and even saw a post by you, that said you were going to meet someone and reprogram their computer with your Vag in Jun of 2010........what wrong information are you talking about? Take a deep breath before you answer ok!

yeah im not sure what your trying to say 1move.

on the b6 DRL can be achieved through soft coding the country code to canada.

it will turn your fogs, turn signals and tails on.

I believe 1move is talking about the common mode people in America are doing for DRL as the city lights mod which requires a bit of rewiring.

This was done on a b7 and reprogrammed however the switch had to remain on and I had to rewire it for some people as it does not pass inspection at some places.
