Default crazy vibration at 40km/h

hey there,i own a 2002 audi a4 1.8t. im having a crazy vibration at 40km/h. if i go under it stops or if i go over 40 it stops. it jus vibrates when i drive at 40. im thinking its my cv joint. or some problem with the tires. also the vibration comes from the rear so im guessing its rear cv. if anyone has any info please let me know asap. also is there a diy on changing a camshaft sensor? thanks in advance

If it is like a high frequency bouncing vibration, then your tires may need balancing. Although imbalanced CV joints can also cause vibration. I've experienced imbalanced tires. They can be very shaky.

Mine had similar behaviour, although it would start at 70-80 km/h, the culprit was - tie rod end. Got Febi from autopartsway.ca for like 40-50 CAd, can't remember

yea i took it to the shop put it on the hoist and vibration is coming from the centre bearing. the driveshaft is like shaking where the hanging bearing is. now the problem is do i have to buy the whole shaft from the dealer or can i just get the hanging bearing? also is there any place i can get a shaft other hten the dealer. i called local euro shops but came up with nothing

That's a tough part to find. Blauparts says they'll rebuild them on the 3.0 B6 cars but there is no mention of the 1.8T B6. You could try going through shokan coach works, but it'll be a used part.

I'm guessing with the price the dealership wants it would be cheaper to go get an aftermarket one piece high strength driveshaft. Get rid of the need for a center bearing all together.

the mechanic that did the clutch job said that nothing happened to the driveshaft when he installed the clutch. he is saying that it is the front plunger on the driveshaft that needs to be replaced... any input on this? or is he just saying this to avoid his mistake. also when doing a clutch job on a b6 1.8t do you need to remove the shaft or can it stay up and just have it strapped

How long after your clutch was done did the driveshaft problem start?

A 'good tech' can strap it and work around it.

Your vibration at 40 Km/h is not possible to be from unbalanced tires.
Try the drive train such as axleshafts or bearings.
Keep the car at the critical speed and turn your steering left and right and notice if there is a change. Good luck.
