Default Cracked Oil Pan

So yesterday I drove over a nasty curb that was covered in snow, drove the car home, and I noticed a huge puddle of oil under the car, went back to check later in the day and oil was empty. I cant get it to a mechanic till monday, Anybody have any idea what it would cost to change the oil pan, or if anything else could be wrong with it?

I have no idea what a shop would cost because I would never let a shop touch my car. You may be lucky and out only an oil pan or if the hit was hard enough you may have damaged the oil intake. If you were driving without oil in the engine then you can easily damage bearing surfaces or the turbo so a lot can happen depending on how the hit was and how long you drove it. If it is just a little crack then you could probably repair it with JB weld and not have a problem but it depends on the extent of the damage.

I drove the car maybe 30 seconds, thankfully I was near my home so I parked it very quick, it didnt seem to give me any problems as I was driving home. I looked under the car as best as I could, but cant really tell, I will jack it up later today!

let us know what you find after you take a look.... i agree that jb weld could be used to fix a small crack, but if it were my baby, i would replace the oil pan if it were cracked.

Good to hear that the motor was not seriously damaged and you can get away with just have a pan. While the pan is off you should have them check for any sludge build-up in the motor and make sure the oil pump screen is clean.

I wouldn't use JB Weld unless that was the only way I was going to get it from point A to point B to have it fixed. I have heard of people using JB Weld on cracked engine blocks and transfer cases and driven for years afterward without a problem so it does seem to hold out. Personally I wouldn't use this a final repair but it works magic for stopping the problem in the short term.
