Coil Pack Recalls.

Coil Pack Recalls.
Hi All,
I just read on another forum that Audi is recalling the 1.8 coil packs, so it will be replaced for free. I am not sure of the years - but think it is 2001-2007 or something like that.
I purchased my carused, so I called Agincourt Audi, and it is not offical as yet, but it is coming. I spoke with Audi Canada (800-822-2834) and they confirmed that my car qualifies, and I will be receiving a letter - you have to register your vehicle with them to get that letter and that recall.
The rep gave me a web address:
coils - enter your VIN number and should give you some info.
Good luck, hope you all get it done! (for free) The recall is being staggered, so I have to wait on my letter to go in to have it done.

Nice to see Audi initiating this. I better see if I can return my two spare coils packs or try to get them reimbursed!
You don't need your vin number to check. Just the year, model, engine of your car.

Re: Coil Pack Recalls.
From what I have read (and have been told) there is no way to know when a coil pack fails. You just get a suprise! Then you are running your engine on 1 (or 2) less cylinders. Your Audi can limp along but I wouldn't do it for long. The CAT will be burning off alot of extra fuel and will turn red hot. If your CAT breaks then thats another $1000+ in repairs.
This recall is needed!

I have just got my coils replaced under the recall. The mechanic did a test and it came up with misfires. They are replaced based on the part number; if only one qualifies, only that one will be replaced, I've been told.
