Buying new rims...weight?
Ok, i have a 2004 A4 quattro 1.8T
There is a set of 19s i want to get but they are 31lbs each....somewhat heavy....but i have nothing to base this on. Does anyone know the stock wheel weights? of either the 16s or 17s??
I dont want to do any damage to the quattro system with the extra weight causeing strain. Or does anyone know the max weight suggested?

Whoa !! 31 lbs is heavier than stock fo sho. My 18's were approx 28 lbs. Here's a link for you to determine wheel weights: WHEELWEIGHTS.NET
From recent experience, I'd strongly suggest trying to get lighter wheels ... my 19's are 10 lbs lighter than my stockers (incl. tires) and the difference in drive (acceleration, handling and ride) is quite noticeable.

The extra mass doesn't hurt the drive train per se. It'd only impact performance. Keep in mind also that it's not just mass that's hampering performance, but also mass that's farther from the centre of the rotating part: rotational inertia, the physical quantity analogous to mass in describing rotations as opposed to linear motion, scales as radius squared while it scales linearly with mass, so the amount of torque required to accelerate a heavier wheel that's larger in diameter is much larger than an equally heavy wheel that's smaller.

You mean the website I provided in my first post ?
Any of the wheels I had weighed were the same as what that website stated.
Good luck with finding wheels - patience is a virtue and sometimes paying a few bucks more than planned allows you to get what you want (ie: lighter wheels).
