Default Brake light problem

Hi guys,

My brake lights like to come on by themselves at night. Over the last 2 week I've had my neighbour knock on my door to tell me my brake lights are on. The odd thing is that when I park my car I know they're off. (I check). But then they seem to come on sometime during the evening or night.

I would get it scanned first. Could be something there. Could be some wiring issue, but to solve that you will have to hunt for hours or even days, I hate electrical!!!! so scan first. I dont have any other ideas, very strange though.

EDIT: you know what i just remembered someone else had posted here on the same issue. Search

EDIT 2: I just checked and it was you also. Take it to the dealer it seems to be an ongoing problem.

I had this same problem this winter on my '05. Come out in the morning and the brake lights are on. Tap on the brake pedal a coupla times and they're fine. It turned out to be the brake light switch, which is attached to the brake pedal. It's only $5-$6 for the part and you can replace it yourself. Probably the cheapest on an Audi.
