Default Audi 2004 1.8t quattro timing belt

Hey,
I'm at 89k km and just wanted to know when it is recommended to change the timing belt? Anyone know a good place to get it done in the GTA?

Thx!

First time Audi owner.

My manual say 115K. I'm getting mine done next week (I'm at 110K), at a place close to me called EuroCars (in Etobicoke). It's going to cost me around $1,200. I'll let you know how it goes.

I think most people try to do it around 100-120 k kms, if not sooner, as they are knows to faill/break at times, which can lead to some devistating repair bills.

If it looks cracked (at 89,000) I'd personnally just go ahead and get it changed.

our timing belt should be replaced every 50-70,000 miles. Carmakers have specified the replacement intervals for timing belts. In this database you will find these timing belt replacement intervals along with a little technical information regarding the valve configuration - interference or non-interference. In an interference engine, the valves and piston share the same air space. They never touch, unless your timing belt breaks or skips, and this is a catastrophic failure that requires removing the head and replacing bent valves. Non-interference engines do not risk this contact if the timing belt goes. Nonetheless, either can leave you stranded, so regular timing belt replacement is very important.

I recently had mine changed at a shop near my house that specializes only in Volkswagen and Audi. I bought the parts off ECS tuning and had all components changed + tstat +crankshaft/camshaft seals replaced for only $300 labour, compared to the $600-$700 other shops such as eurotech and independant tuning were charging..

if you want his number pm me, they also did my control arms, great work and great expertise.
