Default Audi 1.8T and Exhaust systems

Does anyone know what a Neuspeed stainless cat-back exhaust sounds like on a 1.8T, (youtube kind of sucks) and what kind of power gains I'd get?

I do NOT want a car that drones on and on down the road like sooo many imported cars with "performance" exhaust. I wouldn't mind an extra growl on hard accel, but if I'm stepping lightly I want it QUIET.

You'd be best off to get an S4 with stock exhaust

I had a Milltek on my B6 (with APR 1+) so I can tell you that it definitely will provide you with the sound you're looking for although many complain its too quiet. That said, dont expect to feel any performance gains. Aside from the MTM (BIG $$'s) and Milltek, virtually all aftermarket exhausts will drone a bit. As an alternative, I suggest you consider keeping the stock exhaust but swap out the DP and cat for something similar to what I had when I went to a BT: MTM downpipe (with relocated HFC). After installing this, it woke up my Milltek exhaust.

I know, I'd love an S4 but unfortunately cannot afford a $30,000 car

Thanks for the advice re) the downpipe. Would I really benefit from a DP while keeping the stock exhaust though? If so... any suggestion on a good place to pick one up?

All I can tell you is that I really didnt notice a difference when upgrading my OEM B6 exhaust to the Miltek whereas there was a noticeable improvement in my B5 when I installed an aftermarket exhaust in it. I believe the OEM B6 exhaust flows fairly well. No doubt in my mind that there are benefits from a relocated HFC/ DP combo. Flow is your friend in order to make increased power (the stock cat is attached directly to the turbo which restricts flow and causes exhaust gas turbulence). With a relocated high flow cat, the downpipe is attached to the turbo and the cat is relocated further away under the car providing improved throttle response, power and deeper sound. The one downside that I recognized with this setup was that with a lowered car, you have to be careful going over speedbumps etc. due to the cat being the lowest part of the car. At 25" fender to ground, this was an issue but if you're at stock height or mildly dropped, this shouldn't be an issue. MTM makes a high end unit but big bucks ($1,800. the last time I checked) - good luck trying to work out something with Horchaus - Exclusive Canadian Distributor of MTM Products. There's also a Fast Intentions relocation kit available for $675. USD at Tantrumwerks

BTW, I picked up my MTM DP relocated HFC used for $700. and sold it when I moved on to my B7.

Good luck and happy modding !

Thanks a lot for the info. I've got the stock sport ride height and am planning on keeping it. Any other brands that are reputable for a HFC and DP? Does the HFC / DP combo directly bolt on replace the existing cat and downpipe? (reverses the order)

NP. Not sure who else offers this and yes, it reverses the order and bolts on. One thing to note is that any aftermarket pipe diameter will be slightly larger than the OEM exhaust ...
