Hi there,

after a quick search in this forum with keywords "aftermarket headlights" and "replacement headlights", I did not find much relevant information.

All those "r8-style" kits selling on ebay, what are they worth you think?
Sample here

By "worth", one could evaluate them on
- exact or not fitment
- wiring quality
- rising "check engine" error codes
- lifetime
- ugliness (by this I mean, why the LEDs are blue and not white...)


If you do not wish to give your input, but have resource links to such kits for a B6 that does not actually have xenon, it's okay too.

Any input is welcome

I wouldnt.

Most of the r8 style headlights just dont flow well with the lines of the b6. There also no where near as bright as the oem ones, in the day time they look pretty weak.

but its all personal preference. The ones you linked however are by far the worst ones I've seen. Not to mention $200 for oem headlights... something seems really fishy about that one.

Try helix s5 led headlights if you want to go in that direction.

After looking some pics, I agree with you that it doesn't fit the B6 lines... However, 600$ to replace headlights... Well I priorize my spendings, and probably a chip would come first!

But at 200$ it could have been a great try, not as much expensive...

the ones i linked are around $339 for a pair. Im still not a fan but they are the best made ones for the b6

What do you think of the +200 extra for the HID kit on parts4euro, the link you sent me? I've heard that most of the kits off ebay are total crap and will die soon, light is unconsistent and often flickers...

Do those lights worth the major diffrence (+200 vs ~60 on ebay)? Is it possible to find good quality HID kits on ebay do you think?

VVME is the HID kit i use, no issues at all and they are very inexpensive and great.

Ok, I've found them and indeed seem great.

After a bit of research, it seems that a recurrent problem is the fact that DRL causes a mess with HID. (Canadian models, like mine). But on the webpage of VVME HIDs, it is said that with a relay harness, the problem is avoided. Can you confirm this?

Also, another point with HIDs is that in my opinion, it is uncool to have HID for exemple on low beam, but not on high beam, or no high beam at all !!!

What is your setup and do you also have HID on high beam?

Nope just HIDs on low, since high beams are already bright and HIDs would be overkill/blinding.Also i dont have a relay harness theres no need for that, i have 6000k 55w low beams, and thats all you need , this does not cause CELs or anything. DRLs run fine with this i dunno where that issue would occur unless you messed up the wiring horribly, but that would be next to impossible since this is a plug and play set up and very easy to install. also make sure you place your ballast in a good spot, since that is what will cause issues ( i the guess DRL issue? ).
