A4 B6 HID Kit

A4 B6 HID Kit
Hi All,
I know the HID issue had been discused before, but I still need to ask the question just because I couldn't find anything to my satisfaction through my search. Please accept my apologies.
Now, I know my A4 has Projector beam lens halogen bulb headlights, and my question is: do I need a different housing in order to install a HID Kit ?
My understanding is that for HID you need Projector type headlights vs Reflector type headlights. If this is the only restriction then installing a HID kit would be no problem. Am I correct in my assumption ?
Thanks in advance for your input.

Re: A4 B6 HID Kit
A friend of mine with a 2001 A4 converted his stock halogen projectors over to HID, they look pretty good, and from what he says work just fine. IIRC they still give him a decent cut-off line too.

Thanks for the input. When you say 'converted' it means that your friend just replaced the halogen bulbs with the xenon ones, plus of course the balasts, right ?

Re: A4 B6 HID Kit
Maybe not quite the same topic but here it goes. I just bought an a4 2002 with aftermarket hid lights the guy i bought it from said they didnt work properly and this being my first audi i believed him because he said something about the windshield wipers and headlights being on the same relay? Any thoughts about that?

Re: A4 B6 HID Kit
Good for the 'ddm' guys !!! I have search a little more, and found that MTEC (Japan made (?!) hid kit) claims that the product is 100% compatible with the AUDI's computer so the mod is guaranteed error codes free, including the whipers' issue. It costs $290.00.

Re: A4 B6 HID Kit
These lights are the r8 style ? The ones with the led lights on the bottom. Just wondering about those lights being the daytime running lights instead of the fog lights. Does this mess with the computer or some relay hidden somewhere?
