Isn't this bad for the vehicle?
Mine is completely stock, and I plan to take great care of it,
So are there any bad effects of using an unitronic stage 1 ?
If not it's really a good thing, with their 200hp claimed upgrade!

Stage 1 u could stay bone stock with no side effects what so ever with stage 1 I'm pushing 210hp n 240tq . Trust me it's well worth the 500$ , than once u get fed up u pay 100$ to upgrade stage 1+ , that's when u have to start putting 94 instead of 91 n it's very recommended to add an upgraded diverter valve or splitter valve from forge is tip notch. Lol and eventually when u get fe up of that u upgrade stage 2 for another 100$ , add an exhaust n injectors n ur flying
, but stage 1 full pin stock from unitronic u could rip it all u want ur all good.. But obviously the more u rip it the more u wear n tear, n ur also much more gas efficient with the chip

Do you recommend the Unitronic tuning over APR??
I'm debating between the 2, and if anyone has reasons for preference of 1 over the other I'd love to hear it.

It depends what YOU want and what YOU expect
My car is Bone stock and I am considering a Stage 1 APR just for this extra ommph and call it the day.
APR's advantage is that is is a very reliable and soft sofware/program vs. more aggressive ones like Unitronic, GIAC...etc
The more agressive you go the more stress you are putting on your stock turbo along with additionnal wear and tear on other components.
I see so many wanting to reach 300hp+ and never consider stopping power! Stage 1 does not require any mods not even diverter valve as confirmed by my local APR shop. You could always replace the stock one with Forge or any other brand to accomodate the additional boost.
I simply replaced my rotors with Zimmerman and Akebono Ceramic pads from Auto Parts Way Canada and paid labor to install and I do feel a difference.
If you track your car and add considerable mods then you have no other alternative than serious upgrade...It never ends!
It would also help if you know how far you plan to go in terms of upgrades and mods

For me, its my daily driver, so I'm just looking for a little extra fun/performance. I've already installed the APR Stealth cat-back exhaust, and its a great system both performance wise and build quality -- so APR seems like a pretty decent choice in my eyes.
Unitronic's stage 1 kit is a little cheaper, and delivers about the same numbers. Aside from the "switchability" of APR's software the two are very similar. I was just fishing to see if there were any big believers in one over, and what the reasoning was behind it.
Thanks for the info on the brakes though, as those are next up!

Trust me I did my exhaustive research on this matter...APR would be my choice hands down. My car is also my daily driver and I put less than 10k/year. However when I have my baby dayghter and wife I can sometimes feel and would have appreciated some additional Toque/HP.
My local shop who is an APR dealer as well and been working on Audi for 30+ years told me that our cars come ''detuned'' vs. European specs. I am not too sure about that but I would agree that remapping the ECU with such a ''soft'' software would be great and mind you you would also save on gas when cruising on the highway. So regadless of the tune you will save money as long as you do not Push it and when you do it would be ready!
In your case I would simply go for APR Stage 1+ with TT injectors and then upgrade your brakes.

Bro u seriouse right now or ur jkin apr is full of ****.. U want stress on ur engine u get apr u want everything top notch u get unitronic or revo... Apr gives more power therefore gives more strain on the engine u wanna be smart u listen to me u wanna be a clown slap on ur apr come see me next year when ur changing ur block
