Default 4300K vs 6000K vs 10000K HID Bulbs

Hi,

I currently have a stock HID on my 2004 A4. It isn't yellow, but it isn't the blueish light i love either. I'm looking to upgrade my 4300K stock HID bulbs.

Which should I go with?
6000K or 10000K?
I would prefer safety of my wiring over looks. If installing the 10000K will burn/damage my wiring harness, then I will stick with 6000K bulbs. OR is upgrading the bulbs bad in general for the wiring?

I wan't the hear from the experts (YOU!!)

Thanking you,
Myron

I cant relate this to audi, but on my mustang I've had 4300k, 5000k and 6000k. And undoubtely, 4300k was the brighest light. So, keep in mind that as you go up in the color temperature, you're losing brightness.

4300 was white, 6000k was white-blue, and I've seen cars with 10000k, it was too purple.

So, among those two options, go with 6000k.

Cant see why 10000k will burn/damage wiring, all the K's mean is color temperature, it does not mean power usage.

Thanks for the response BD...i had no idea that higher the colour temp...the lower the brightness...i thought it'll be brighter...so i think i'm gonna go with the 6000K then.

4300 is best there are some in betweens but I would stay stock or find 5000k which i tough to get, the higher you go in K's the less visibility as mentioned above

Agreed, but the OP wanted a bluer light, the best choice is 6000k.

5000k is still pretty white, I have it on my car.

i have 5000k on my car now and i love it. color is pretty cool and the brightness is there. Used to have 8000k on my car but it's too blue that i can't see far while driving on roads with no street lights

To balance out performance and esthetics, 6000K is optimal and also safe and legal.

agree wih everyone. 55-6000k is a good blue, but you dont loose to much usable light output.
As for your wiring, it does not matter. its what colour you want and how much you want to sacrifice light output.

I had these PIAA Super Cobalt 6600K bulbs in my 03 TT as they are a direct replacement for the OEM HID bulb. Was noticeably brighter and has more of a purplish blue hue to it. I run them in my Volvo XC90 as well.
