04 A4 instrument display after Sirius install
Okay, I'm wondering if I screwed up. I just recently bought this 04 A4 and needed to rid myself of some of the wires running everywhere so I had a local stereo shop hard wire in my Sirius unit. He did a clean looking install but 2 things bother me.
The display in the center of the dash used to display what radio station you had tuned in, either simply the frequency or in some cases the name of the station and/or type of music played. Since the install, this part of the display is blank. The big OK shows up, as well as a recent brake disk warning in the space but after that, nothing. Is something amiss or did he simply change a setting I can't figure out how to unchange?
Secondly, after driving for a hour or so, the radio will shut itself off. It simply requires hitting the button to turn it back on but that's still screwy.
I was hoping to have the GSP hard wired in as well, leaving only the radar detector in the lighter outlet, but if this is going to cause further problems I won't.
Anyone with any ideas or comments, I'd appreciate it.
BTW my mechanic says the pads are okay so I assume it is a faulty switch or sending unit causing the brake light to come on.

Re: 04 A4 instrument display after Sirius install
I took the car in and the installer checked it out. He says although the RDS connection was clicked in, it wasn't making contact so he says it's all fixed. I can't tell yet because the brake disk light is on, although my mechanic says they are still good for 30,000 kms. I may have him disconnect the warning light and do the brakes in the summer when I am riding my bike.
