02 Fuel gauge issue
Hello,
I have recently purchased a 2002 A4 1.8T quattro, I've been having this issue with my fuel gauge. When I first start the car the gas needle sits lower then where it should be, once the car warms up The needle works its way up to how much gas I really have. After I start driving it drops down again slowly but when i get home and let it idle for abit the needle climbs back up again. Has anyone ever seen or had this issue and what can I do to fix it?
Thank you

Re: 02 Fuel gauge issue
There was a note somewhere about removing the fuse for the fuel pump, turning the ignition (no need to start the engine) and then replacing the the fuse. Apparently it does some sort of reset of the fuel monitoring system - definitely worth trying.

Re: 02 Fuel gauge issue
So today I was playing with my Trip reader and I came across something pretty funny, It told me I was doing 40L/100 kms lol and that was in a parking lot doing 10 or 15 km, so something is definitely fubared, I will try to do the reset this weekend.

No I haven't filled it completely yet, my gauge seems to be working ok when I'm a little over half tank, but under that it doesn't work so well and the trip reader well that's just way off lol

Re: 02 Fuel gauge issue
With Ignition off pull fuses 15 and 28 out then put ignition to on for a couple seconds, turn the key back off pop fuses in and should be good. Unless you have another problem which could be the fuel level reader broke in the tank and doesn't read correctly.
