Please Help-Brake light problems!
hey, I have a b6 a4 and it is telling me that my right brake light is not working but the left one also isn't it just isn't showing the message. Both bulbs are good and the brake light fuse is good. They are after market tail lights so I'm guessing the problem lies somewhere in there. I'm scared to drive it in case I get rear ended which I'm guessing would be my fault. I don't know what else to do and when I put the tail lights in a few months ago the plug had to be pushed in really hard in order for them to work and now I can't seem to get it un-plugged.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks,
Chad

Re: Please Help-Brake light problems!
Aftermarket... are they the LED ones? LED's don't work the same way as regular incandescent bulbs do and they have a habit of confusing ECM's that are expecting certain behaviour.
I had a Tiburon and built my own LED tail lights, and the cruise control stopped working (something to do with the interrupt to cancel cruise when you step on the brakes I guess). To get cruise working and keep the LEDs I had to connect the factory bulbs back up, and tuck them out of the way to get the behaviour right.
If your tails aren't LED, then maybe they have more or fewer bulbs that OEM, or different size? That could mess with things too.
I just re-read your post and realize this probably has nothing to do with it at all... Check the bulbs you're using and make sure the posts line up properly and the contact points on the bottom are the same as what the factory harness is expecting. Some have 2 contact points on the bottom, some only have one... also, the little bumps on the side need to line up correctly as well or.. no workey
