Default VAG-COM issues with central lock recoding

Greetings,

I wanted to test my new interface using the 409.1 software. My goal was to recode the central locking system. The interface works well, it reads all codes, deletes/resets faulty codes, but when trying to recode the central locks, after hitting "do-it", it reverts to the original value (I am trying to get 16172 to change to 1520. I'm not sure if replacing the stock radio with an aftermarket unit has anything to do with this...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thx

When I look at the label folder for V409 I don't see any references to the Central Locking Pump module #35. I see references in the V704.1 version. Perhaps that's the problem.

What is the #35 label supposed to look like? what is it in vers. 704.1? Have you tried modifying #35 with 704.1 by any chance? Thx

Don't have a B5 anymore - moved to a B6 3.0 and a B7 2.0T so can't do any test coding for you.

Above is the Ross-Tech description.

Below is a portion of the label file

Sorry, how do you see that info...I found a copy of 704.1 and in the label folder all I can see is a long list of .xpl & .lbl files (in 409.1 there are only .lbl)...should I try replacing any of these files?...are you saying that it may be that my 409.1 #35 only works in read mode, and is missing a component to write?...sorry, pretty new to this, just got the car 1 week ago and am still trying to make sense of all this. Thx for your help.

The .lbl is a text file. Can be opened using Notepad.

Other thing you could try is determine what the mapping for 1520 i.e. 1024+256+128+64+32+16 = 1520.

Enter each of the codes in sequence and see which one of them is not accepted by the module - if none of them work then I guess that's it; your module can't be recoded for whatever reason.
