OP stated that he put the car into reverse while doing 60. The post doesn't tell us anything else. You do have a great question. Its something I have never tried on purpose or by mistake?

So I put it into reverse because I do not drive automatic and I forgot the gears. I just wanted to shift down. Than I added gas and the car did not respond. The tranny never engaged the wheels. It works perfect for now...?
