No heat coming from vents

Re: No heat coming from vents
The cap on the reservoir seems good. Another question, what is the coolant systems whole capacity? I put 4.5L of G12 and the rest distilled water. That should be ok right?

audigemini,
Here is a link to a DIY that are the general steps that I used to flush the heater core.
AudiWorld Tech Articles
I used a garden hose to flush the core and then flushed the system with distilled water. Don't forget to bleed your system after your done flushing.

Re: No heat coming from vents
Re no heat
It seems the local mechanics in mark ham are familiar with a rad flush but not a heater core flush.
I checked with the dealer and they want 400 to do a heater core flush
The Midas or rapid lube can do a rad flush for around 100.....they said it would do the heater core as well
Should I try that first?
Or does anyone have a good mechanic in mark ham or gta?
Thanks

Re: No heat coming from vents
There is no need to flush the heater core separately since the rad and the core are connected so flushing the rad will flush the heater core. You can go to Midas just ask them to bleed the air after.

Re: No heat coming from vents
i decided to go to independent tuning. I have an appointment for this week
They said a heater core flush is 115
Hopefully that will do the trick!

Re: No heat coming from vents
I had the same problem no heat coming from vents. I went to a local Audi specialist in West Dundas Street and got my heater core flushed for $50. Working like a charm now.. had a large smile driving to work this morning with -14 outside. ^_^

Re: No heat coming from vents
Would you mind letting me know the name of the shop you use?
I may go there
Thanks very much

Re: No heat coming from vents
I use a shop located at 2131 Dundas St. West. The shop's number is 416-533-0909 and the guy's name is Tim, he specializes in German cars. I've had all my maintenance done there (timing belt, oil changes, engine gasket leak.) Give 'em a call first though because last saturday he told me he was moving to a new location 60 Brydon dr. #3 Etobicoke.

Re: No heat coming from vents
Hi ..just reporting back
I had my heater core flushed today at Independent Tuning
They did it for 115 plus tax
It worked!..my heat is back
Independent Tuning did what they said for the price they quoted. That is refreshing. Very clean shop with lots of happy customers
Mark at Independent told me that I also need a thermostat
I didnt replace it yet but probably will soon after doing some research.
I am curious about the thermostat . My Tempature gauge seems to work just fine. Once the engine is warm is goes to 90 and stays there
wonder why Mark thinks I need a thermostat
Any thoughts?

Re: No heat coming from vents
i think i spoke too soon.
My heat worked well for 2 days, but now is only blowing very cold air
It is actually worse than before the flush
I wonder if they didnt bleed it properly and left an air pocket?
any thoughts?
Thanks
