Default Newbie Question

Hi I am thinking of purchasing a 1997 Audi A4 1.8t automatic. Really low miles and good condition and good price so thats why I think I am going to get it.

I was thinking of doing minimal mods to make the car look good and sound good - body kit, intake, chip, and exhaust. Would those give me just as much hp gain as a manual? Roughly how much hp gain will it give the car?

The car is not tiptronic, it is worth it? (not looking to race etc, just make it look and sound awesome)

Thanks!!

Default Re: Newbie Question

i have the same car. 97 1.8t auto quattro. All i can say is get it if the price is cheap and low mileage. It's been a great car for me.

As for mods, i have apr chip, forge diverter valve, apr turbo inlet pipe, evolution motorsport front mount intercooler, h&r coil-overs, and k&n panel filter. Do not do intake cause no gain at all and expensive.

As for power, my car dynoed at 140 whp and 162 wtq. This was done at blitzkrieg in vancouver on their dynapac dyno. As a reference, they dynoed a 2000 auto 1.8t quattro at 89whp. And apr using dynapac dynoed a b5 1.8t manual at 115whp. We will never have gain as good as the manual guys because we have more drivetrain lost with the automatic.

so if the price is right, buy it and then join Vancouver Audi Club • Index page
