me too ... the screws just keep turning in place and don't hold the plate firmly ... does anyone know the part number(s) and/or a place to get a replacement?

you dont need to change the whole black plate thing, my brackets were spinning as well, i called up Audi and they sell the replacement backing for 40 bucks. The guy at Audi recommended i just pick up some plastic clips and insert them. Just did mine, works perfect!

Thanks for the response. What type and where did you end up getting your plastic clips? Are you referring to some sort of anchor?

Also - did you have to take apart the trunk liner to get access to the "whole black plate thing?" - the other problem that I'm having is that rust is developing around the frame as well .... seems like it traps moisture ....

Sorry for the delay in response.. not sure if you were able to find the clips but...

I got mine from a dealer, im pretty friendly with a few dealers in the area so just asked one of the mechanics and they grabbed a few clips. The plastic clips act as an anchor for your screws.

Didnt have to remove the black liner thingy, in fact the whole reason i did the easy clip replacement was to avoid this. Many dealers perform this on cars, im sure they can walk you through it or if they're kind enough even do it!!

Goodluck!
