Rough road signal from ABS/EDL control module, checking

Notes:

When the ABS/EDL control module senses a wheel spinning, it produces the rough road signal. When the ECM recognizes the rough road signal, the misfire recognition is switched off.

Check the rough road signal only when the trouble code 18014 "Rough Road Spec Engine Torque ABS-ECU Electrical Malfunction" is stored. The possible "Misfire" malfunction is in this case a subsequent malfunction that can be disregarded.

The wiring and the rough road signal are monitored by the ECM.

Emissions testing on a front-wheel drive vehicle with ABS/EDL, during which only the front wheels turn while the rear wheels are stationary, can result in the DTC 18014 being stored in DTC memory. Therefore, the fuse for the ABS/EDL control module must be removed. After the test, check DTC memory for the ABS/EDL control module and the ECM. Then erase DTC memor

The rough road signal should only be checked if the malfunction (P1606) 18014 "Rough Road Spec Engine Torque ABS-ECU/Electrical Malfunction" is stored in the DTC memory. It is possible that the malfunction "Misfiring" is also stored in DTC memory, however this is then a sequence error and should be ignored.

I don't know if this is related but here is what I found on the ABS I have. I was checking the wheels and sensors etc... I gave up till I hit the ABS by mistake. the light went off. then start lightly moving the whole ABS the light comes on and off.

before I had the ABS I did not get the P1606 code till I had the ABS issue so I am guessing it might be it. I will also check the ECM again and clear the codes and see if it makes any changes.

I will keep ya'll posted

I had the exact same problem...my CAT was glowing red and CEL was flashing. Got it towed to the dealer and they found multiple cracks and blockages in the hoses and valves in the air system.

They replaced the entire PVC system (hoses and valves) - about $1100. Car runs great now.
