I'd go for the 1.8t quattro whit Manuel trans. the reason is the power between the 1.8t and the V6 is not a big difference and the 1.8t has more hp upgrade when you chip it due to turbo.

There's a 1.8T I4, and a 2.8 V6 for the B5 A4. There's also a 2.7T V6 for the B5 S4. Doubt you can get a B5 S4 with your budget, nor B6 and up A4's.

haha yeah an S4 would be nice. So tell me what turbo is in these 1.8LT. Im going to have to learn Audi turbo talks. As apose to 14b, t 25, 16g's, t28, Dsm turbo talk. Also do you guys have any forums that tell you everything you can do with lots of info. Id rather read my self then bother everyone with noob questions.

The 1.8t is a K03 and if you want some real power that works well on the street, look into the GTRS. A K04 will provide a reliable upgrade; however, driving a K04 back to back with my B6 BT confirmed that I much preferred the BT. One thing though, you've got to drive it differently due to the power band being in the higher revs ...

Good luck finding your next ride !

Humm, how are these engines on these. I mean can it handle a bigger turbo and higher psi? Like my dsm could. At times i was running 20 psi with the stock t25 turbo. Or would i have to rebuild the internals?

Yup, no problem with stock internals. My ATP GTRS kit ran 20-21 lbs without any issues. Obviously, its important to regularly VAG the car to ensure its running within safe parameters. Although I wasn't able to get a proper dyno (that's another story), many guys with my setup running 275 WHP+ with similar mods on pump and one guy hit 331 whp on race gas. With this setup, supporting mods include: upgraded cooling and clutch (weakest part on the car next to brakes) and eventually a relocated cat or test pipe as the EGT's will eventually burn out the stock cat.

check RIV website but I think you'll find the needed mods are minor. DRL is a computer thing and so someone with a vagcom cable and software will be able to switch you over no problem. emissions should not be an issue as long as it's functioning properly (check that there's no check engine light etc.)
