Question Looking for AEB engine vacuum line diagram

Short of buying the Audi service manual, is there any other place to find this online? ( 1.8T in my 99 A4 quattro)

I want to fully understand the convoluted network of vacuum & other hoses and plan a careful cleanup/ re-engineering of it, but at a minimum i need a clear diagram or schematic of the stock system as a starting point.

Anyone have or know where to find such a diagram?

thanks

AEB engines were strong but did require quite a bit of preventative maintenance. Prone to sludging too, but there again check for evidence of preventative maintenance. Anyway to answer your question somewhat this is at least a start:

It's a diagram of the braided hoses that are most likely to disintegrate, and as you'll see they've been replaced with blue silicone lines. If you're redoing the PCV lines, try this:
Complete 1.8 PCV System DIY (AEB) - Passat World Forums

Finally, if you can't get any satisfaction here, try audizine.com and passatworld.com. Both the B5 Passat and A4 ran AEB from 97-00 (98-01.5 for the Passat I think?)

Thanks for the leads, those diagrams help a little, but without the legend that explain what all the numbered parts are/do, it's still mostly a mystery to me.

Ideally what i'm looking for would include a detailed explanation ( but i'll settle for a cryptic one) of exactly what each part of the system does, when it does it and when it desnt, and how it relates to the rest.

I've recently been reading about the tendency of this engine to "sludge-up", and i see a lot of it when i take off the oil fill cap, so i'm wondering whats the best way to "de-sludge" the engine. Costco used to offer the "powerflush" engine-enema with oil change, but not any more. is there something similar or better i can get elsewhere?

If your engine is sludged up, a flush is too little, too late. You'll need to kero/diesel soak it. There's write ups on the internet.

Might look into Auto-RX, which gets good reviews. I am trying it on my own car, mostly as preventative maintenance (from what I can tell my oil pressure is fine).
