Just did the Intake mod and..
So bein an X dsm er, Once you do an intake mod you hear the turbo like mad and hear the Blow off valve. I did the intake mod on my a4 and i hear the deep intake sound the spoolin, not as loud as the t25 tho. I dont hear the Pshhh or anything.... Is there a way to get the stock Bov sound? or should i be buyin another greddy type s Bov for the audi.
Dirverter/Blow off
Im guessin diverts the air back in and blow off is back into the atmosphere?
Thx guys

Re: Just did the Intake mod and..
what mod did you do? did you buy an aftermarket intake like cabernarro or whatever it is called?
also ithink you need ot buy a blow off valve to get blowoff, or stock valves are diverter which diverts the air back in. I have heard that our cars run better with diverter valves, and blow off valve are just for noise, any truth to this?

Re: Just did the Intake mod and..
yes our cars run better with a air being recirculated back into the intake. venting to the atomsphere is not recomended at all!! some have done it and its ok, but there has been more problems then good. The intake mod is buying a cone air filter, removing the stock intake box and clamping the filter to the MAF housing. If you do that, you WILL get the noise. get it chipped and it will be alot louder!!

Re: Just did the Intake mod and..
I would never remove the stock airbox on a street driven Audi, especially a Turbo car. You will be sucking in a ton of hot engine bay air and your IAT's will go up. VAG log your IAT's and MAF before and after to know what your intake mod is doing to the car's performance.
Contrary to most aftermarket intake mfg's opinions, Audi's airboxes are not under-engineered for airflow. A good mod for a 2.7T going full StageIII including fueling (approaching triple or more the intake airflow vs stock) is to cut a few holes and screen in the bottom of the stock airbox to create the additional airflow needed for high HP mods.

Yeah i did the intake that Sonic said, Im just surprised that the stock BV/DV isnt loud.
Ok so here is the sum, A blow off valve does not have to be atmospheric believe me, my 2g talon had the greddy type s on it i could run it into the atmosphere or just recirced. Runnin non recirced made me run hella rich and gas milage sucked. No matter what you have you can make it run back into the pipe.

Re: Just did the Intake mod and..
Modern Audi Turbo engines have closed loop intakes which means you do not want to externally vent any MAF metered intake air. If you BOV for the sake of sound, you are working against the inherent intake design and the best you could hope for is CELs, lower engine performance, bad gas mileage, later replace EGT's and O2 sensors due to long term running rich, more labor for you, more co$ts for your wallet, etc.
Even if a Greddy "Half and Half" BOV doesn't trip a CEL, your still messing up the intake metering and it will negatively affect performance and gas mileage.

So your running the "no airbox" intake mod? Have you measured the amount of increase in IAT's yet?

It sounds like "J Ozzie" has listened and is going to BOV his car anyways... SAD!
