My 2003 A4 1.8 won't start. A few days ago when I tried to start the car it would not crank. Battery was fine, but it wouldn't crank at all and didn't make a sound. I got it to a garage and they told me it was the starter. They changed the starter and the car was running again. When I picked up the car I noticed the buttons on the flip key no longer worked. I could not lock the doors or open the trunk. I made 3 stops and the car started each time fine. After the third stop I tried to start the car and again it was dead. I removed the key from the ignition and noticed right away that the buttons on the key now work again.

I tried to start the car 6 or 7 times and it wouldn't crank. I then tapped the flip key a couple of times and tried it again and the car started. I drove it home to my driveway, shut it off, and again it won't start.

Either the car starts and the buttons on the flip key don't work, or the buttons work and the car won't start. Has anyone else had this issue? I'm at a loss and don't even know where to begin.

Please help.

New starter, or get Vag Com and make sure your key i programmed properly. Immobilizer issue may be present as well....
