How hard do you drive your A4?

How hard do you drive your A4?
Just wondering how hard you drive your car. I can get to 5000 rpm pretty quick, but I dont know where the red line is, or even what the "recommended" shift points are. I'd post this in the general discussion areas, but the TT and the S series owners may not share the same opinions as the A4 drivers.
Audis seem to have strong engines and transmissions and I sure as hell dont want to drive like an old lady. I want to push this car and really get all I can out of my engine without blowing it up.
How much push is too much for these fine vehicles? I'm seriously considering taking a performance driving class/school. Just the thought of it gets me all worked up and excited.

Shifting around 3000rpm would be the best from a gas mileage standpoint. For going fast, you always want to shift at your highest RPM point no matter what.
Even if your HP curve is way under your redline, the car will accelerate faster at higher RPM with less HP than it will at lower RPM with more HP. So basically if your HP tops out at 5500, you would still shift at 6500 or even 7000 if the rev limiter will allow you to. This is contrary to popular wisdom, however that wisdom is from people who don't race and also don't know what they are talking about. Anybody who does some serious track time (as I do) will tell you the same information. I have an 11 second Eagle Talon, and road course prepped Boxster (both for lack of a better term) so I have a few years experience racing.
Hope that helps,

Re: How hard do you drive your A4?
The main reason I bought audi is because of their meticulous engineering, these things are built with everything in consideration. They are built to drive, If I wanted a car to drive sensibly, I would have bought an accord something else for half the price. I think the only limiting factor when comes to how hard you want to drive it, is how much fuel you want to consume.
Saying that, you should also know how to "drive". I think if you are serious about taking a performance driving course, it is a great idea.
Also to add, if you are going to drive it like it's stolen, make sure all of your wear parts are in good shape. (eg. tires, brakes, suspension, oil, etc.) Other than that, give'r.
