Default Daytime Running Lights For The Audi A4 B5

Hi! Is there a way to use VAG-COM to change a setting on a 1999 Audi A4 B5 like the B6 models? If not what parts do you need to get the DRL going without having to solder wires together? Isn't there a module of some sort that could be installed? Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Joe

I just bought a B7 and from what i've been reading it just needs to be programmed through the VAG-COM. I've been thinking about this for the past day now as the car I bought on friday is a US vehicle and my dealer told me he wants to install a DRL module. This has me a bit concerned as I dont want them cutting cables and installing aftermarket modules if a software change is all thats required...
I think i might call the Audi dealer tomorrow just to verify!

Guys! Do not cut and solder!

Day-Time-Running-Lights feature gets set through programming the counrty code.

I hear you... I feel a little uncomfortable knowing that they want to install some module just because they dont know it can be done a simple way and possibly dont have a VAG-COM unit; I'd rather pay for it myself and have it changed at Audi... I cant imagine a simple software change costs more than 70 or 80 bux! This car is basically like new, so i'd hate to have these guys butcher it up!!!

Sorry Max but you are wrong... The new US B7's have a switch for the DRL's however this switch needs to remain turned on all the time for the DRL's to work and this gives the user capabilites to switch it on/off. This switch has to be bypassed and the country code needs to be changed to Canada as the current US DRL's only run the front daytime lights. Once this is switched to canada the licence plate markers the back fog lights and sidemarkers are enabled and meet the canadian code

Hey Joe I am sorry to say that the B5's require a relay and some wiring to get the DRL's runing it is not as easy as on the B6's but first do the vag com programing and then wire up the fog's you never know if it might have been done before!

Hopefully I helped all with your questions Enjoy!
