Check Engine Light - Diagnostics Computer
For anybody interested : Canadian Tire has ODB2 Tool on Sale for $149.00.
I am posting because my backyard mechanic told me that it costs $600.00 to buy it, so I kept borrowing from him for beer in the past.

With all the retarded crap you do to your car, I'm sure it will be well used.

Re: Check Engine Light - Diagnostics Computer
I KEEP IT PLUGGED ALL THE TIME ha ha...
so I monitor the engine for fun things like
CURRENT
Oxygen in exhaust
temperature
ignition advance
and much more.. if I could only read it all. Whatever crap I do I can finally tell either it harms the engine or not and how individual components behave. Plus there is a button to turn Check Engine light OFF
FUN FUN FUN FOR EVERYONE

Re: Check Engine Light - Diagnostics Computer
As you can see I do not have any DTCs due to Midrange's advise to clean the ground on my battery, so my fun is over, but I am getting neighbours coming to clear their check engine light now.
The Red button Clears Check Engine light
DTC button tells whats wrong with the engine
LD button shows current engine parts status
Green Button connects to car's computer

Re: Check Engine Light - Diagnostics Computer
For another ~$150 you could've bought VCDS and a Bentley manual.
For what it's worth, I can pull standard OBDII codes from any car with my Ross-Tech cable.
Just my $.02.

Yup, if you're a VAG enthusiast, just get a genuine VAG-COM - it's one of the very few products that I have ever purchased that I think is worth every penny of its cost. VCDS is very powerful, offering more functions than the scanners that dealerships use.
While VCDS is quite powerful in itself, knowing a bit of physics and math one can derive very precise data from vehicle logs.
