Default Canadian Tire Gas

Just went to Canadian Tire and bought full tank of Mid Grade.
The car runs normal or better. Go figure.
Maybe they do not need Super Supreme Gasoline?

i dont think it takes ONE tank of gas to ruin your engine... after a few it'll start knocking?

Well, using actual gasoline of any kind can't be any worse than the other liquids you purport to dump into your tank.

But yeah, running a tank of 87 octane when you can't find 91 isn't a huge deal on a stock tune. Our ECU's are set up to cope.

They say min 89 so it could be 91! The car runs normal on the second day

you can run 87 with no danger to the engine, no knocking, none of that stuff.

you will get decreased performance and mpg though.

I've heard that octane level doesn't affect gas mileage Rob? I just want to hear your opinion because it seems like everyone is saying different things about octane levels.

Octane levels have nothing to do with gas mileage. We have beaten this one to death on other threads.

Okay..

well when your supposed to run 91 in our cars and that is because it perform optimally for performance, gas mileage, etc.

If your running 87 in it then your not using the octane the engine was designed for. You are going to get decreased mileage because the engine is not running optimally.

i dont see why that would not make sense?

Cheeba said that you can ruin your engine with one stroke on 87.I am afraid to go this low, but today I will check either the computer adjusts ignition timing for 89 grade that I have in the tank.
