Thanks for the feedback! Seems like I should be able to get a little bit done when I get in there.

Thanks a ton for the link Mona, I think that's going to help me quite a bit! And thanks Jordan for the pics!

Just changed the gasket this weekend (I procrastinate, I know.)

Things went well, although I noticed something I wanted to ask about. Bear with me as I'm not sure on the terminology...

On your picture Jordan, the right hand side has the 4 plastic square covers - I'm not sure what they're called. When I got mine apart, I only had the bottom 2, nothing over the top. Is this an important part that I should be getting a replacement for STAT? If so, where should I pick this up?

Thanks for all the help!

I can't say for certain, as mine is a B6, but i would suspect that it should be the same on both B5 and B6 and that the intake cam should be covered. Hopefully someone with a B5 will chime in here.

Often it's not only the valve cover gasket that leaks but also the cam tensioner gasket. That's the one near the chain. Google it and you'll find out.

It's a good idea to change both at the same time.

I dont know about the pieces that your talking about - but I also dont know where they would have went... if they werent there when you took the valve cover off, then they havent been there for a while...

Funny - I was thinking red. or blue to match the expansion tank cap. Its all under the black plastic so not seen really obviously.
