So what you're saying is that 280kmh on a 30V even with Nitromethane is impossible!? What if I added some Simple Green to the induction :eeps: to remove some of the WD40 that gunked up in there, would that make my car go 150kmh sideways on the freeway shoulder with just half of the Quattro system!?

That is exactly what I am saying. A 2.8 30V top speed is 240 km/h with 190 bhp. The 0-62 mph time is 7.4 seconds. Now with nitromethane added to the fuel in small percentages that may vary but I am highly suspicious of the car going much faster than say 245 at the top end.

Having said that I by no means am putting the car down. Its a great car in its own right. However its not competition for a BMW 5 series. Its like comparing my S4 against a BMW M5, both great cars different classes.

According to the information I have a new A4 with the 2.0T engine does the 0-62 mph in 7.0 sec with a top speed of 150.1 mph.

Seriously though, there are reasons why speed limits are posted! We should all try our best to obey them or atleast not surpass it immensely as other people claim to do so!!!

i had one of these, and can assure you it was electronically governed at 208... perhaps the euro spec ones did not have a governer, but mine sure did! my brother in law (who lives in italy) told me that in his skoda octavia he could go beyond the governed limit by setting the cruise control, then holding down the accel button, and that the governer would not engage, though i tried this on my b5 and it did not work for me (and i would also not recommend setting your cruise at such excessive speeds )

There are a few reasons and one of them is tires, it is cheaper to put on lower performance tires and stick a speed limiter on there. Put it this way, a H rated tire is rated for 130 mph or 209 kph so throw some H rated tires on the car new and 130 mph top speed limiter and you are good to go. Most North Americans don't really have the occasion to do this so it is not really a big deal.

Some cars simply don't make enough power or aerodynamics to allow the car to go super fast so they don't have to worry. Other cars such as the S4 can go very fast so these cars and some of the higher end MB/BMW had 155 mph speed limiters but I think this was federal more than anything. So I think the government also plays a part in this just like other countries who do similar things. I know there are areas in Japan where cars are limited to 90 mph and other countries do this as well. I think I remember hearing that the American or Canadian governments were thinking of putting a 110 mph or something for a speed limiter.

Speed doesn't kill by itself, there is typically an idiot or someone without the proper experience that is pulling all of the switches and this is always the problem. I don't drive legally all of the time because my car makes a lot of power and I like to use it when I can. And I say when I can, I do not drive like a tool in traffic or race with people but every here or there I give it a squeeze when there is nobody around. I had a customer that would just drive from Vancouver to Calgary and back just for the roads and when he got a chance he would just push it for a bit.

The people who do these things where there are other people are fools and should have their licenses taken away. There is a time and place for everything but there are probably few city streets where you should be going fast. If you are driving on a divided highway then maybe but on city streets you should never be going much over the limit. In sub-divisions I barely make it over 20 kph because you never want to take out a kid or a pet. When you are driving your car you are in control of a device that can do a lot of damage so you have to use your brain at all times.

like you said, theres a time and place for everything, i too have taken my car to its limits but it was on an empty highway where i took it to 240kmh but it was still accelerating but then i thought ah what the heck this is fast enough lets slow down!
