1999 a4 quattro sport v6 advice
Hey there i'm the new guy.
I've wanted an audi for some time and a deal popped up and i'm looking for advice on. 345k on the body, 60k on the motor. Tranny unknown kms but also swapped. Interior is in good shape and no rust on the car. Car has valve tick but will be fixed upon purchase, aswell as safety and etest. Swap was said to be done professionally though no proof is to be had and the cluster still reads 345k.
asking 3200
What are your thoughts? What is the best way to determine tranny life and quality of swap on an audi. I have swapped motors and know my way around a car.

take it for a test drive. What would bother me the most would be all the creaks and noises it makes on a car body that already has 345,000km on it.
I dont know if the valve tick will go away. How long ago did he do the swap on each parts?

Don't know when the swap was done but the tranny was done two weeks after. He's having the valve tick repaired. I plan on swapping the bushings and putting on new suspension. Is there away i can trace engine codes, check the wiring, or such; to determine the quality of swap or if it was done as said?

Sounds a little sketchy! You buy, THEN he fixes the tick? And no receipts? Sounds like a suckers deal, any valve work is a big job - there are 30 valves.
Also that thing sits way too high. Basically spend 3200, and expect to spend another 1-2 thousand in upgrades.

Yea id offer him $2000 for the many miles. The only way justifying paying $3200 is if the suspension components (Control arms, tie rods, bearings, etc) have been replaced within the last 10k as theyre very prone to failing on our vehicles. Also, if you can get someone with a VAGCOM to scan the car for any faults.
Good luck!

good advice here. I ended up finding a 1.8T for 6k. Lowered on HR springs on VMR rims. Waterpump, belt, tensioner, and clutch all done in the last 25k and 50k respectively. Car has 172k. I will soon be a proud audi owner
