1997 A4 Rebuild/Upgrade
Hey everyone! New here. So next year I'm gonna pull my 1.8t motor from my 1997 A4 S-line and have it bored and cleaned and rebuilt. While its out, I figure that'll be a good time to install a bigger turbo (GT2871 or eliminator I'm thinking), as well as FMIC, intake, a new DV and a high flow cat or turbo back exhaust. Rods may also be a good idea, though I'm not looking for more then 250-275 hp. In the meantime, suspension upgrades (rear sway, coilovers etc) will be installed. Am I missing anything that will be necessary to my rebuild for the performance figures I want? Any internals like pistons? I want to avoid rearranging the engine bay if I can (aisde from FMIC).
Right now I'm simply running a stage 1 APR tune with a K03. This heat certainly robs the turbo of some punch.
Thanks I look forward to seeing some responses and getting to know other folks with Audi's in Canada.

for 250-270 whp, you don't need internals at all.
Looking into turbo inlet pipe, injectors, bigger MAF, 4 bar fuel pressure regulator (depends on tune), tune, engine/snub mounts.
If you are manual, and depending on mileage, can upgrade the clutch as well.
And there is a big difference between full frame gt2871 and gt2871 elim. If any questions, ask away, try my best to help you out.

As mentioned above, for anything less than 300AWHP, internals isn't necessary, however going forged internals does let you upgrade to higher power in the future without having to do the work twice so it's a good idea to figure out exactly where you want your car to be. Personally, anything over 300awhp on a street driven car is overkill but to each their own.
What it really comes down to for making reliable power is that your engine and accessories are in tip-top condition as well... no leaks, parts on their way out, old/cracked hoses, some form of monitoring your engine.
