01 1.8t oil light, engine light, can hear lifters getting louder
Any help would be appreciated
So the oil light came on; i then changed the oil, filter and it seamed to be fixed.
Sometime later (2000Km) the light came on and after a short drive the car started to run rough with the lights still on.
I went for a 15min drive with the oil/ engine light on, and by about 10mins the engine started to make noise, (lifters, valves) after about 3000rpm the noise quieted but not by much.
I also noted that there was no engine oil temperature.
I brought the car home and before shut down noted at idle it sounded like a diesel.
I changed the oil and filter but no improvement.
So is it a pump, a screen, blocked oil passage?
Would the top end be ruined or could it run dry for 10mins?
i`m thinking of dropping the oil pan to inspect/ replace the pump.
should i get the engine flushed with steam/ corrosive liquid.
anyother things i should consider inspecting/ replacing
Ps the oil had no evidence of metal particles when i drained it
thanks for the help

oil leak? did u have any oil when u check the dipstick?
oil compressor? no pressure probably.. get a oil compressor test for pressure.
symptoms - ticking noises valves moving...

haha at least ur learning. the cars have coil packs and underneath the coil packs is the sparkplug i find it alot easier to deal with than a distributor

so thats what the coilpacks replace. i've heard the b6's have had coil pack issues. my friend always carried spares in his car for his b6 a4
