Speaker Upgrade A4 B5
I've got an extra (new) set of MB Quart 6.5" component speakers.
Is there good way to utilize these? And if so, where and how?
If I understand my car's system correctly, it's the Symphony (non Bose) type. At least there's no Bose logo's anywhere to be found.
I like the quality as far as factory unit's is concerned but thought I might be able to improve upon what's already in place.
Ideas?

Hello John,
I used the plastic that the stock speakers were mounted on. I cut the speakers out, and made wood rings (1/4” because you want to fit under the stock grill) that fit the plastic speaker mount on one side and had a mount for the speakers on the other. Shoot me an email address and I can send some pics. Also I used the little anti vibration foam stickons to make sure that I only hear the speaker and nothing around the speaker.
I have a 1997 A4 Quattro 1.8T. Your speaker setup may be different.

This is an actual adaptor available from the UK

I take it that the UK site is the only one for these needed A4 bits? Have you already looked at crutchfield?
Cheers,

Hello John,
I guess our cars are different. I don't have rear door speakers. I only have speakers on the front doors, and on the rear deck. The rear deck is what I was describing to you. I have tried Crutchfield and a few other suppliers with no luck. If you have speakers in the door, they are 2X the pain to properly mount (mine were...) I made wood rings and fiberglassed them in place. I test fitted using play-dough. The biggest speaker I could fit on the door was a 51/4".

Re: Speaker Upgrade A4 B5
Hi Chris
Sorry if I may have mislead you. I don't have rear door speakers either. I found a post that described pulling the panel out on the rear door. There's already a raised ring and bosses to mount a speaker in the rear door. I already ordered the Audi rear door speaker grilles and should be in on Monday. The pic I saw also showed that the wiring is already there inside the rear door as well. I'm hoping my MB Quart 6.5's will fit in there. If not , then I'll probably have to get something smaller and use the 6.5's for the rear deck. Whta size are your rear deck speakers? My search says some are 6.5 and others say 5 1/4????
I'd like to replace the front 4" with 5 1/4" but I'm not sure they'll fit.
Do any of the speakers have amplifiers connected to them if I don't have a Bose system?
