Default need audio wiring help !!!!!

i'm seriously getting more and more pissed..... i can't find this info out goolging and doing a search here. so i'm hoping someone that has done their own upgrades can help me.

i have a 1997 A4 Quattro... i cannot for the life of me find out what system was originally in the car since the previous owner switched the factory deck out for an aftermarket one.

they used an aftermarket wiring harness for the black and brown connectors, but had to splice into the YELLOW factory connector to run the rear speakers (i'm guessing the rear door speakers as well). i'm putting in my alpine deck and cannot find out what the wires that were spliced from the yellow factory connector run.

the wires are :

one WHITE wire
two BROWN w/RED stripe
one BLUE w/ RED stripe
one BLUE w/ GREEN stripe

i don't want to blow fuses or my deck, so i need to have some help finding out what these do so that i can run my connections properly.

please, i have been looking for days now and scouring this site and have not found my answer.... and i can't for the life of me find a wiring diagram that shows what the damn wires do. i have front sound just nothing coming from the rear.

i DO NOT KNOW if this car came with a bose or delta sound system.

would like to get everything put back together asap.

thanks in advance !

I recently had an aftermarket radio/nav/you name it head unit installed on my 2006 A4 Quattro Avant. I tried to do the wiring myself, but gave up. It was eventually done properly by an experienced Audi mechanic.

Unfortunately, the unit I bought was cheap Chinese crap, has a myriad of problems (radio reception very poor, only rear speakers work with radio on, iPod will not let me select the songs etc etc etc) and I am sending it back. There are too many things to go wrong when you do this sort of thing. Go with whatever Audi themselves have and save a lot of trouble for yourself. I should have done this, but I thought I could try myself and now it's cost me about $1000 (so far) for NOTHING.

I don't know where to post my question, therefore, although off the topic I hope somebody receives/answers this question.
I have a 2007 Audi A6 with factory Bose audio system.
I would like to install an Auxiliary jack or a USB port.
Any suggestions?????

Do what I did on my 2003 A4/B6 when I removed the my aftermarket Sony single DIN deck. It just didn't look right in my car but I needed to be able to play MP3 in my car. If you have the Audi Symphony II deck, you can get an aftermarket MP3 player with SD card reader, USB input, or i-thingy input. I can't stand i-thingys but I digress.

I bought a Yatour YT-M06 (less than CAD$100 delivered) and installed it in my glove compartment but make sure you order it for your specific car because it comes with different wiring harnesses. It's basically plug and play and there's no need to butcher your OE wiring harness. The only drawbacks are that the audio volume is a little lower than, say, your radio.

Basically, it fools your deck into thinking your MP3 player is a trunk mounted CD changer and will play anything you throw at it. Unfortunately, your deck can't display any text of your songs (artists, title, etc). Also, your deck can only display up to 99 tracks. Greater than 100 tracks would start at 01 and go up to 99 again.

I have a 2GB SD card in mine and I can travel across country without listening to the same song, not that I have traveled cross country but it would be cool to see our great country and all it's sights. It's great for what it is and it's cost.

Also, buy yourself the Audi radio removal tools from eBay as well. They're cheap and it'll save you money in removing the deck, which you'll need to do.

I recently just put a Clarion VX401 DD in my B6 A4. zero issues. If you have installed any aftermarket stereo, there is NO difference.

Colors tend to be pretty generic in harness's. However, if you do have a "make-shift" harness to work with.. wire up everything else, and see what you have left over... The left over wires should match your

one WHITE wire
two BROWN w/RED stripe
one BLUE w/ RED stripe
one BLUE w/ GREEN stripe

Or, you could go down to your local Car Audio shop, for me "Radio Active", and give them the Alpine model number, and your car info: Year/Make/Model.. there may be a max of 3 different stereo's. they will know which harness you'll need.
