2004 Audi S4 Flywheel and clutch replacement
Hey guys,
The dual mass flywheel has begun to fail on my S4, any advice on an economical single mass after market replacement flywheel and clutch I could use?
Thanks!

1. don't get it resurfaced etc. They tend to fail even worse and damage the bellhousing. Are you getting the vibrations?
2. get a JHM lightweight flywheel + stage III clutch. Cost of parts is about $1700
That's all from me! The LWFW will drop about 13 lbs of rotating mass...and that will feel like a shot of horsepower. The stage III clutch is very daily drivable and holds very very well.

Hi,
Yup, it vibrates like mad. I do want a single mass unit as you describe. Any other parts you suggest to change while its removed? Also, any Canadian distro you suggest?
Thanks!

their parts are a little different and require a couple of steps that some shops breeze through thinking they know it all...causing a faulty install.
v8@jhmotorsports.com or phone them in California and ask them for the best way to get this done.
they used to have a relationship with VAST but that is no longer the case with VAST preferring to work on Volvos and other cars, but not the 4.2 S4/RS4s.
if you're getting the vibration, I'm telling you this with all seriousness - get it fixed NOW. It's a MUCH bigger problem if it develops.
Here's some light reading...this will explain everything you could want to learn about our clutch/flywheel setup, including the dangers of running with a seperated DMF
