I wonder if Audi can do an aftermarket one
APR said it would cost approximately $25,000 for an aftermarket one, so it's never going to happen.

I was getting a "sports differential error" anytime I took a corner hard in dynamic mode. It happened about 7 times so I've since left it in comfort mode which turns it off. I thought it was a software issue so last time I was in Calgary (3 weeks) I took it in for service. Unfortunately there was an impact mark in a metal protective piece near the sports differential. The protective metal piece was pushed into the solenoid beside the sports differential.

(Dented Piece)

Since it was an impact mark (not exactly sure how it happened) it isn't covered under warranty. I was pretty pissed off so I went there and looked underneath while Glenmore Audi still had my vehicle on the lift, and sure enough there it was.

They said it would be $1000 to replace the solenoid, and $10,000 if they have to replace the sports differential. I will be going through insurance so it will all be covered but it is still ridiculous. Audi should have it more protected. Anyway I have two points to this long winded story.

1) I absolutely hate driving without the sports differential. It's way less fun, and makes it feel like an average sports sedan.

2) It is impossible for anyone to add this $1500 feature into an aftermarket product without spending 10x more than the original cost.

No. It's outlined very well here:

quattroŽ with torque vectoring > Technology > quattroŽ > Audi Worldwide

Sigh. I had my eye on a really nice one in Quebec... 2011, Premium, Nav, low KM... but no Sports Diff.

Everyone keeps saying you have to get the sport diff, so Ill listen and hold off.

Well. There's another one that Im looking at. Has the drive select, no Nav.

It seems its got some Stasis upgrades as well:
Touring Exhaust
AWE Intake
ECU Tune

Thoughts on that? I've asked if the suspension was upgraded as well, but from the pictures it doesn't look like there's a drop. The reviews of those parts look ok. When I test-drove the 2012, I thought it was a bit quiet, so I wouldn't be upset if it had a bit more growl. Would definitely be more quiet than my Subaru.

Anyone see any issues with any of those parts?

The Stasis exhaust is one of the quietest exhausts available for the B8 S4. It's also the cheapest. Miltek and AWE are renowned as being the best sounding for this platform.

The Stasis ECU tune is quite tame compared to the Revo, GIAC, and APR tunes. Within the last year Stasis bought Revo and released a V2 tune which is similar to the original Revo 91 tune. Before that APR was making the Stasis 91 tune which was a toned down version of their 91 tune.

There is probably 100 threads about ECU tuning on Audizine. Audi has been cracking down hard on tuned vehicles and giving them a "TD1" flag when they are scanned and tunes are found. This pretty much voids your entire power train warranty. There is no way to prevent them from finding a tune unless you get your ECU flashed back completely to stock before going in for service(program switchers do not hide the tune).

Stasis offers their own warranty on all of their products which effectively has them pay the bills if audi decides to not pay a warranty claim because of a tune. The Stasis warranty is only valid for the remainder of the factory warranty (4 years, 80,000km). Stasis cars cannot be CPO'd or have longer warranties than the originally factory warranty. It's actually quite bullshit how the system works since many dealers actively promote stasis products and claim that they work with Audi. Audi has straight up said they have absolutely no affiliation with Stasis, and it's up to the dealers themselves to have those relationships.

Since it already has an AWE intake I would be skeptical since it isn't a Stasis product, and they "could" deny a claim since you have other products on the car. Once the car has 15,000km on it the chance of having a catastrophic engine failure is quite low so I wouldn't worry.

Thanks for all the information Luc!

Ok, so I called my local dealership with the VIN and the vehicle has been flagged TD1, however the salesman said all the upgrades, including the intake, were installed at a dealer.

I've asked him for proof that the warranty is still valid.

Starting to think I should walk away and just keep waiting.

The dealers get confused when dealing with tunes as well since they really have no idea what is going on. Stasis has their own warranty, and only sells products through Royal Oak Audi. Glenmore isn't associated with Stasis at all.

The Audi powertrain warranty is voided already, but it still may have the balance of the Stasis warranty. Again I wouldn't count on it since their is the AWE intake on it. If you are set on it I would contact Stasis about the car to ensure their warranty transfers when the original owner sells it

Just wanted to say thanks for all the help everyone. Because of your advice and guidance, I feel like I was able to make an informed decision.

Today I signed the papers for my new (to me) Audi.

Bought from Glenmore Audi.

2010 Audi S4

Meteor Gray Pearl Exterior
Black Leather Interior
72,000 km
CPO Warranty until May 2016
6-Speed Manual Transmission
Active Sport Rear Differential
Navigation Package
Bang and Olufsen Sound System upgrade
Advanced Keyless Ignition/Start Button

I pick it up next weekend as it just came into the dealership as a lease return, they did the mechanical work (new brakes, etc) but it needs a new windshield, rim (one was curbed) and a complete detail before I pick it up.
