2013 S4 - Loss of Engine Coolant
I have a 2013 S4 and when the engine coolant light came on, I went to my local Audi dealer to get the issue investigated and was subsequently told that I there was a small hole in the lower radiator that must have been caused by a small stone or other debris coming up off the road and causing damage. They then told me the replacement of the lower radiator would not be covered under warranty and with parts and labour it would cost $800CAD to replace. After extensive research I found that this was quite a common problem for the 2012/13 S4 and that in fact Audi make a Protective Grill (Audi part No. 8K0-820-746-C) to help protect the lower radiator.
Therefore, I called my local Audi dealer back and explained when I had found and that I wanted the costs for the repair covered, as I believe this is a design flaw by Audi (why else would they now make a protective grill for the lower radiator) and that I wanted the protective grill installed at no cost.
Thankfully, after researching the issue, my local dealer agreed to complete the repairs and add the protective grill at no cost to me. Therefore, if this has happened to you I suggest you ask for the costs to be covered, also I would suggest you request Audi to install the Proactive Grill to avoid a potentially serious issue in the future.
