Angry Southgate Audi Edmonton

Are there any members from the area that can comment on the service they receive at Southgate Audi?

are you talking about sales or service?

i bought my 06 a3 from them. my sales guy was awesome but he left. after they moved i thought they were a little snotty.

the service guys know their thing but couldn't find the problem with my car. i kept on burning through oil.

i think if you're an young adult you're going to be treated poorly at any dealership.

They were okay. I had the Audi care package, but now I am going to go to them for my first service where I have to pay, so we'll see how it goes. Have any of you gone elsewhere?

As for the buring oil, they told me it was normal. Something to do with the Turbo.

I burnt through about 2L every 2000km and they said it was normal and couldn't find anything wrong with it.

i haven't been a big fan after an incident i had with a salesman back when they were southgate VW/Audi. last time i was there for warrantee service, the tech brought me into the garage and showed me each and every problem he'd uncovered during his journey under my hood. he told me that he wanted me to be sure that he wasn't jerking me around... that alone was enough to get me to return for each and every service in the future, notwithstanding the A++ service i've got from Norden Autohaus (VW) in the past few years.

i retract my previous post about southgate audi.

they were supposed to call me when my catalytic converters came in. no call after a week, so i phoned, and was informed the parts were there all along. nothing but a smug male receptionist deflecting my inquiries as to why i wasn't called sooner. i dropped my car off at 730am on a thursday and got a call late thursday afternoon that they hadn't began work on the car and would need it overnight. i was assured that i would have my car back for 1pm friday, and i told them i required the car for an appointment i had at 3pm. at 3pm i called them and asked wtf was going on, and i was informed that they had run into an unforeseen problem and would likely be done by 6pm. 6pm rolls around, and i get a call, albeit from the service manager Craig (who is essentially a nice person) informing me that they weren't close to being done because of some camshaft sensor faults that were showing up and a massive oilpan leak. Craig told me that they would 'investigate further' on monday, and in not so many words, blaming me for their problems because they know i have vag-com (that i used to code my RNS-E). peculiar considering nothing was wrong with car before it went in to have my catalytic converts replaced. that makes 3 business days, or 5 regular days that i've been without a car. no apologies, no loaner, nothing but sweet f__k_ all in my garage and blame squarely being placed on my shoulders. i imagine im going to get nailed for all this shop time as well. i have audi canada on speed dial because i foresee this getting messy...

anybody reading this: do yourself a favor and drive to calgary for warrantee work if you can, else, convince audi canada to allow norden autohaus to do the work for you.

i don't know how to do this, but would it make sense to create a sticky thread on the main page dedicated to slamming southgate audi? if audi canada were alerted to it it may entice them to start doing a better job regulating their agents.

I completely agree, I’ve had several issues with Southgate Audi in Edmonton

Let's start with the brakes, my wife had about 30,000 km on her Q7. Went in because she had squeaky noise coming from her brakes, they told her that they needed to replace all of the brakes and was quoted a ridiculous amount of money so I decided to go to another shop to see what they thought of the brakes, turns out we only had to replace the front rotors and callipers for a fraction of what they quoted, the Q7 now has over 70,000 KM and the rear brakes are still fine. Surprise surprise.

Secondly, a few weeks ago I had my Blizzak tires and Audi rims stolen out of the back of my truck after only having put them inside the truck a few minutes before

I called Southgate Audi to give me a quote replacing them. The service guy came back with a quote of $10,900. I had no reason to disagree with this quote because I was just giving it to my insurance company for claim. My insurance company came back to me and told me that Southgate already quoted me 10% over retail which surprised the heck out of me. I called Southgate Audi and asked them why the increase in price. The parts manager back stepped…he said he wished he could go back but he already knew that it that was too late! I told him I found it ridiculous that they were charging me 10% over retail and I was very upset that this is the way they treat their clients that come in and buy a couple of vehicles from them with out arguing any price with them on the Q7 and S5 we bought and to get up charged for doing so.

So thinking after this that I was never going to deal with Southgate Audi again, my wife had already booked in her Q7 for warranty repair of some rust on her hatch. So she took her Q7 South Gate Audi to have the work done, they had given her a loaner while the work was being done which was very nice. We decided to get some other damage on the vehicle fixed at the same time. Southgate auto body gave us a quote of $1700 to fix the dent that we had on the side of her vehicle. We agreed to the quote and asked them to go ahead with the work. When the vehicle was ready to be picked up, they said that they could not drop it off back to Southgate Audi and that we would have to go and pick it up at the Southgate Autobody, both the dealership and the body shop agreed to this. Before taking it back my wife wanted to wash the car because she felt it was very dirty and that it would be unfair for us to have a loaner for a week in a bit without washing it. She washed it very thoroughly and looked around the car to make sure there was no damage, I then drove the car to the Southside Autobody for my wife because of the weather that day and picked up the Q7 and drove it home.

The next day we get a phone call from Southgate telling us there’s a $1200 scratch on the back of the A4 that was a loaner…

My wife was sure that the scratch they showed us was not on the vehicle when we returned it. It would have been seen when it was being washed. When I drop the vehicle off at Southgate autobody nobody came out to check the vehicle, which should have been done. When I asked Southgate Audi about this they said there's no way it could've happened from the autobody shop to their dealership. So it was our word against theirs. So I talked to the owner of Southgate Audi and didn’t get anywhere, he had an excuse for everything…We are on the hook for what they say is a $1200 fix.

So the end of my story, we were going to buy my wife a new Q7 in the spring. I am no longer going to ever buy a car from these people again. The two vehicles that we bought from them, we gave them full asking price without any hassling and now after all of this you can imagine my feelings on Southgate Audi.

If you were thinking about buying from Southgate Audi in Edmonton Alberta Canada, I would strongly suggest not buying it from these guys.
