Hi there

I have been driving my 2006 A3 for about 3 years right now and I love it. No issues so far besides two light bulbs for the rear brake lights!
I need to change the timing belt along with water pump and ect...since I have just about 110,000km. Like I said, all is great so far!

I have had my 06 for 2 years now... a ton of back lights have gone out (who cares they're $2each), other than that its a great car. If you're not looking for standard i would suggest getting a quattro. also, I don't think you need to change ur timing belt, im almost positive its to be changed at 110,000MILES

Another question you should ask yourself is: do I need quattro??
The quattro system was only available to the 3.2L engine and not the 2.0L for 2006-2008 models!
That being said, if quattro is the answer, then prepare to spend a bit more for the 3.2L
However, since you live in Toronto, and that front wheel drive on the A3 isn't that bad in winter, then 2.0T is a great choice. Just get a good set of winter tires to be safe.

Another point, concerning tires......
Do not acquire Hankook ices bear 300 or something like that! Awfull tires!!! Get something serious! and you'll be fine!

DSG is great! no problem at all so far!

all in all, much better than a golf GTI 4dr.......it's an Audi after all! and it has audi quality!! IT'S THIGHT!!!

I have the 2006 A3, 2.0 6spd.

No problems so far except the above stated ... bulbs out.

Hey Ackerman, where do you get your bulbs?
Are they easy to replace yourself?

I get my bulbs from either dealer or partsource near my house. Theres 2 kinds they say will fit our car, if they try to give u ones that have two contact points on the bottom, dont take them, u need a single contact... That was my initial issue with bulbs.

As far as changing them: pop hatch, pop tab out of trim to get access to plastic screw cover, undo screw cover thingy and theyll pop right off ( pull out and to the outside of the car as theres a post with gromit holding them on the side.

All in all takes me about 5 min to change a bulb

Cool thanks, I can do that. I'll just tell them the car year and model and hopefully they can

What about doing a front fog light?
Ever done one of those? Looks a bit harder than a brake light.

Fog lights are easy! Just grip the plastic Fog light grill and Yank it off, there are 3 t25( i think its 25) screws, once those are out just unhook harness and remove the bulb

I have had mine for 2 years & love it! No major problems. I just had the timing belt, water pump, drive belt & tensoner, etc done as I am just over 150,000 Km. That cost about $1100.00. Great car, reasonably fast. The leather driver seat has 2 wear/tear spots to fix- thats not alot to complain about!

Dave:

Did you have the car service at the dealer for 1100$ or at a local shop?
