Default heated side mirrors

Hi guys,

I just had my 06 A3 for just a month and today is the first day to test out the heated side mirror in the pouring rain and it seems it is not operating.

According to my knowledge, if I turn the rotary **** to the center position, the mirror shall turn out but it seems the water is still on the mirror without sign of vaporization.

I checked the user manual and it states that "depending on outside temperature and vehicle speed, the mirror surfaces are heated until the ignition is switched off even if rotary **** is no longer in the center position"

Does this mean the heated mirror may not engage at a certain stage of the speed and temperature?!?!

Please help!

Thanks!

Tom

Great question! It is very posible that even if the mirrors worked properly you might still have water droplets on them. I have not heard anything about speed or temperature however I can see how the outdoor ambient temperature might be sensed and have an effect on the heaters.

Call the dealer and let us know how you make out. Be very interested in the response.

The only time I ever really noticed the heated mirrors were in the winter when the ice and snow melted from them. Other than that I really didn't pay any attention to them. Never felt them either to see if they actually got hot or just warm enough to melt the snow and ice.

for a 2002 a4 when the outside temp is below 15c the mirrors will heat automaticly till the temp goes above 15c or ignition is turned off.

that is what my manual says.
