Hi,
does anyone know if I can put rims from a A6 on my A3 Quattro?
I have 17" and the A6 also has 17", not sure about the spacing between bolts though.
This is just for the winter.

Looks like I got my answer. Bolt pattern is the same 5x112.

Now my question is: can I fit 225/50 R 17 on my A3 for the winter?

It is running 225/45 R17 now.

The bolt pattern is the same (5x112) but the rim offset is most likely different. The A3 has a 56mm offset for the 225/45 R17, while the A6 has something around 45mm. I believe the A3 can accept a 45mm offset, but not completely sure. If the offset is not correct you run the risk of rubbing either the wheel fender or the springs which would destroy the tire.

As for putting 225/50 R17 I personally would not recommed it. You have to be concerned with the actual diameter of the tires. The this particular tire size has a diameter that is 3.4% greater (check out 1010tires.com - tire size calculator). You would then have a speedometer and odometer that are not reading properly

For offset's use the offset calculator, also on 1010tires.com. It will tell you how much/less room a wheel will need on both sides.

I am running on 42mm 18" wheels from A4...
They only rub over bumps when 2 or more ppl are in the back seat.

I'm running a set of 16" A6 wheels on my A3. You do need to check the offsets, but they needn't be exactly the same. The offset on my A3 wheels is 56 mm, as indicated in this thread. The offset of my winter (A6) wheels is 52 mm - pretty close. I guess the bottom line is that you should look at the rims and see what the offset is on the wheels you want to use.

FYI... the offset on my A3 rims (17" from Audi) is 45mm, and I am running 225/45s. So it seems like quite a range is acceptable for the car.
