Default 2011 A3 quattro paint problems

Hello everyone,

This is my first time posting anything on this forum. I just a bought a 2011 A3 in January and the car only has 5040km on it. I have owned a 2007 vw gti and a 2002 golf 1.8t gls so I'm very familiar with VW products.

I've been very lucky with my past cars with little to no problems. My brand new A3 dream car's ibis white paint is starting to get red and rust colored dots all over it. My local vw dealer (they don't sell Audi) says that it's rail dust from being transported to my dealer. They say it's a common problem with white cars and that VW knows it's a problem and it's a easy fix.

I called the dealer Audi dealer that I bought the car from and they agreed that it's a normal thing on white and silver cars but that they would not fix it and basically I'm screwed and I have to take it to a auto body shop for repair.

Has anyone had similar problems with there paint? Did audi or VW Canada cover it. I called Audi Canada today and they sided with my dealership but admitted that it was from shipping. I'm pretty pissed about it all and really just want to return my car and
get them to give me my money back.

Any help would be great.

Thanks in advance

thats odd considering all Audis are all wrapped up for transport.

Have you tried clay bar?

This sounds like a PR disaster. I can't believe that both the dealership and Audi Canada passed you off!

I hope you can resolve your issue without having to "give back your car". Good luck with this.

The fix for the paint is an easy DIY. There's a similar (but old, 2009?) post subject: "Oxidation on body." Clay bar works great (to remove those little orange flecks, along with anything else an initial car soap can't handle). I'm either using Meguliar's or Mother's (brand spelling may be slightly off, but I got the clay bar kit with detailing spray at Canadian Tire, less than $20)
The fix for AUDI PR, that's a different story.
Good luck.
