Default 2006 a3 "safe mode" help!!

Hey guys,

So I bought a brand spanking used audi a3 a month ago, safe mode came on last weekend on the concert 2 radio. I have the code now but can't get it to work! ( 1000 is not even showing up after holding RDS+SCAN) Even the guys at vw can't give me an answer after trying themselves. Plan B anyone?

Try disconnecting your battery terminals (both) and touch them together for 20 seconds before re-connecting them. This does a reboot on your system.

I've heard it works after driving for 45 minutes to an hour with your radio on. Tried this, but it did not work with mine. Have been radioless for... 3 weeks now...

Is it a common issue then? The dealership actually kept the car on for an hour to reset the safety freeze and still nothing. Now they want 400$ for a refurbished Concert2... should I go with an aftermarket or other make? If so, would it be possible to use the controls on my steering wheel?

I spoke with a dealership consultant a few weeks ago and what they do during that hour is turn the key in the ignition to on but leave the car off and turn the radio on. They leave this for one hour and it should reset.

It's only a common issue if you've done something to the battery such as disconnected the cables or replaced it since it resets the radio.'

Did you type in the wrong code 5 times? I did that and screwed myself over...

Still nothing even with the car off. I never had a chance to put any code because the "1000" is not showing up. It's like if my deck was frozen or something. Well I guess it's time to give audi a check for an new concert2... unless someone is selling his?!
